Founded in 1890, the University of Chicago Press is one of the oldest continuously operating university presses in the United States. From its inception, a primary goal of the Press has been to publish academic findings and analyses from scholars the world over.In addition to working with the University of Chicago's own departments and colleges, the University of Chicago Press publishes influential scholarly journals on behalf of academic and professional societies, foundations, museums, and other non-profit organizations. All publications are peer reviewed.
The journals of the University of Chicago Press cover social sciences, humanities, economics, education, biology, medicine, physics and other disciplines, and have made great contributions to the establishment and dissemination of the Chicago School of Economics and the Chicago School of Society. The database includes important economic journals such as The Journal of Political Economy and The Journal of Labor Economics. As the first academic publication of the University of Chicago Press, The Journal of Political Economy founded in 1892 is one of the top five international journals in economics.
