Information Literacy Tutorials Database for Higher Education

Database Introduction

Information literacy is needed in the information age. A person with good information literacy can do things faster, better, and more efficiently. It can also lay a good foundation for his independent and lifelong learning. The Information Literacy Tutorials Database for Higher Education has hundreds of courses on conceptual theory, retrieval techniques, information resources, retrieval systems, knowledge management, academic resources, academic writing, research tools, and application scenarios. The course is conducted in the approach of 2 to 5-minute-long micro-videos to cover specific topics. The videos are short and easy to learn in fragmented time. It can be regarded as an upgraded course of literature search or Information Search for universities and colleges. The system jumps out of the framework of a traditional literature search course and redefines the core and logic of information literacy education. The database focuses on exploration and discovery which is combined with actual cases shown in all videos. The knowledge points are embedded in specific cases, and critical thinking is strengthened in case design. There are post-lesson questions for practice related to the video, which is expected to achieve the goal of learning and practicing at the same time. The database provides lecture PPTs collected from famous information literacy experts in China. It also has a public lecture series on information literacy recognized by the Chinese Library Association and a platform of practical training for information literacy competitions.
