Gale Nineteenth Century Collections Online

Database Introduction

Nineteenth Century Collections Online formed from partnerships between Gale and nearly 100 libraries that want to preserve content and make it digitally available for academic research. With guidance from professionals and end users, we can now offer researchers a wide range of carefully selected content from invaluable documents that cover the long nineteenth century—and beyond. 

Our library's procurement topics include are as below.

Science, Technology, and Medicine, PartI and II: It collects well-known European and American journals and monographs. Collections include Natural History (500,000 pages of monographs from the Huntington Library); The Rise of Public Health in England and Wales (300,000 manuscript pages from the National Archives in England); and Academies of Science Publications (two million pages of periodicals from Brill).

Photography: It provides a visual reference to accompany written sources and documents of the nineteenth-century world. Content includes images of people at work and leisure; scientific research and medical practices; travel and exploration; and portraits of people and major events, such as coronations, funerals, and wars.
