On 19th April, Ms. Anne Seymour, director of Welch Medical Library at Johns Hopkins University, Ms. Lorraine Spencer, director of Information Technology of School of Medicine, Ms. Xiaotong Zhang, Asia Operations for Johns Hopkins Medicine International, accompanied by Prof. Jun Gu, Senior Advisor of SUSTech Medical School Planning Committee, visited the SUSTech library and held talks with Mr. Henian E, Director of SUSTech Library, on joint efforts to establish the SUSTech Medical School Library.
The talks underwent two sessions. In the morning, Mr. E introduced SUSTech library’s renovation project, library and scholastic resources, team, work plan of 2017, and the 2017-2020 strategic planning to Ms. Seymour and the other guests. Ms. Seymour introduced to her counterpart her library with a focus on resources and the Informationist Service Model. In the afternoon, Ms. Seymour and the other guests met with the SUSTech library management team, discussing extensively what should be considered to establish a first class medical library, such as staffing, service model and resource development, resulting in a list of major actions to be taken.
Through exchanges, both of SUSTech library team and JHS team are confident that we can make a world class medical library here at SUSTech.
During the talks, Prof. Gu introduced the latest progress and future development plan of SUSTech medical school, and expressed appreciation for the fruitful talks between SUSTech library and John Hopkins medical library.
