In order to provide better research service and support, Office of Research and Library have worked out a joint plan of offering a series of training courses for secretaries of scholarly work from faculties. Following the first course held in April 2019, the second course was held on May 15.
The first part of the training was given by Ms. Yue Chuji from Office of Research. She introduced the application procedures of various international cooperation projects in detail.
The second part of the training course was conducted by Ms. Huang Feiyan, Assistant Library Director, which covered the use of ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) and how to import data. She also introduced the other two scholar IDs(ResearcherID and ScopusID)as well as the similarities and differences among the three types of ID.
The third part of the training course was given by Ms. Wu Qinlyu, who explained some popular bibliometric evaluation indicators, and how to use the Incites database to assess ESI academic performance of scholars.
Through lecture and hands-on practice, the trainees gained knowledge of scholar ID and academic performance, more importantly, they learned searching skills of the professional databases. During the training, the trainees were enthusiastic in asking all kinds of questions.
In order to promote ORCID in our university, the library plans to hold individual training sessions in departments.
